Dear Sir
I was touring in India, now almost a year ago, and travelled to Naihaiti in the hope of finding anything that might remain of the Paper Mill, which I had believed was closed. I was delighted to find it in operation, but actually closed. (It was at the time of the festival of colours.) My father, John Anderson, worked in the Paper Mill from 1949 until 1960. I think he was in charge of paper quality/finishing.
We spoke to a number of local people, and were particularly keen to discover whether we could trace the home we lived in, which was an upper floor flat beyond the swimming pool in the adjacent compound. However, we could find no trace of the compound, and the local people did not seem to know/understand what I was asking about.
I e-mailed shortly after our return but only got a response as though I was a supplier/customer.
I don’t know whether I will ever be able to return to India as I myself am now elderly. If you are able to confirm that this is the same mill, and also maybe to send me any pictures of the compound I would be extremely grateful. I will be more than happy to provide you with any more information that might be necessary.
Kind regards and thank you in anticipation of your help.
