NPPC, a Joint Venture between Hindustan Paper Corpn Ltd (HPC) and Govt. of Nagaland was established in 1971, primarily to exploit the abundant bamboo resources in the state of Nagaland and for regional development. The main objective of the company is to promote, establish, execute and run industries, projects or enterprises for manufacturing, selling and/or export of pulp, paper, newsprint and various products from pulp and paper.
NPPC was incorporated in 1971 as a joint venture between Government of Nagaland (GoN) and Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (A Government of India Enterprise) to manufacture writing, printing and Kraft paper with an installed capacity of 100 tpd at Tuli, Dist. Mokokchung, Nagaland; around 05 KM from the Assam – Nagaland border.
The production activities of NPPC were suspended from October 1992 due to continued operating losses. NPPC is being revived with an estimated cost of ‘489 Cr in the 1st phase and ‘190 Cr in the second. GOI approved the revival on 4th June 2013.
